Who we are
Le Roux Auto buys used cars, bakkies, caravans and trailers from their owners. We’re based in Cape Town and buy anywhere in the Western Cape. For questions about your personal information, contact us at info@lerouxauto.co.za or 082 491 7455.
What we collect
When you use our form, we ask for your name, how you’d like us to contact you, and only the details that needs: a phone number for WhatsApp or a call, or an email address (with a phone number only if you choose to add one). We also ask about what you’re selling, such as its make, model, year, mileage and condition, and you can add photos and a note. We also record which page of the website you sent the form from, the page you first arrived on, and how you found us: the website or advert that brought you to ours (for example a search engine or one of our adverts), if your browser tells us. This helps us understand how people find us.
When you call, WhatsApp or email us, we receive the details you share in that conversation.
Photos
Photos are optional. Before they’re sent, your device makes them smaller and removes hidden details such as where they were taken, and they’re checked again when they arrive. Please avoid photos of people, identity documents or banking details, and don’t send identity numbers, banking information or other sensitive documents through the form.
How we use it
We use your details only to look at what you’re selling, contact you the way you asked and discuss a possible sale. Anything a sale needs, such as documents for the change of ownership, we collect from you in person. Sending the form doesn’t sign you up for marketing, and we don’t sell your information.
Keeping the form safe
To protect the form against spam and automated abuse, it uses a security check that looks at technical information from your browser and device. To limit repeated submissions, our server also keeps a scrambled code made from your internet address, not the address itself.
How your information is handled
Your enquiry, including any photos, is sent to us by email. It isn’t kept in a database on the website or published anywhere, and only the people at Le Roux Auto who deal with your enquiry see it. We use trusted service providers for things like website hosting, email and protecting the form, and, if you allow cookies, for measuring how the website and our adverts are used, and they handle information only to provide those services. Some of them may store or process information outside South Africa; we choose providers that protect it to a standard comparable to South African law.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, or longer where the law requires us to keep records, for example of a completed sale.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, or to stop contacting you. Some records of a completed sale may need to be kept to meet legal obligations. Contact us using the details above. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
Cookies
The website uses your browser’s own storage for things it needs to work, such as remembering your cookie choice and showing your reference number on the thank-you page. The form’s security check may use similar technical storage.
With your permission, we also use two kinds of cookies. Analytics cookies show us how people find and use the website, such as which pages are visited and whether the form is used. Advertising cookies show us which of our adverts bring people to the website and lead to an enquiry. Neither is used unless you switch it on, the website works the same either way, and you can change your choice at any time under at the bottom of every page.
Analytics and advertising cookies are provided by the service providers described under “How your information is handled”. Your contact details are never shared with these services.
